This website is part of the TIME CAPSULE research project by Yves Regenass, funded by the Swiss cultural promotion institution PRO HELVETIA and by the Expert Committee on Dance and Theatre (Fachausschuss Tanz und Theater) of the cantons of Basel-Stadt and Basel-Landschaft.

In response to the closing of theatres during the Corona crisis, the project is looking into possibilities to create a play in the here and now that explores the current characteristics of social life and its aesthetics – but will not be staged until the distant future.

The research will explore ways in which the mediality of time capsules may be used in the theatre with its present-moment focus and which performative processes can be used for present-day and future re-evaluation.

This homepage invites you to participate in the collection process for the “Theatre Time Capsule”. The way in which the content is generated is intended to reflect the fact that this pandemic is a global and collective phenomenon.

Everybody is invited to conserve their personal Corona experiences. In addition to individuals willing to participate, especially theatres, festivals, art institutions and schools suffering from the effects of closures are to be given a platform here that offers a productive approach to today’s adverse circumstances.
